India News: Congress president and Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge now has the CRPF extending him the highest-level ‘Z-plus’ security cover all over India. With the security upgrade, Kharge has joined the elite club of senior Congress leaders having Z-plus Central protection, like Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. It rubbishes the perception of any bias on part of the Modi government in extending State protection to Opposition party leaders.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has been provided Z Plus security cover from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

Assam CM Sarma’s protection was upgraded by the Centre from ‘Z’ category cover in the North-Eastern region to the ‘Z+’ category on an India basis.
