Forsyth County school buses roll on through gas shortage

CUMMING, Ga. â By the time the school year ends in mid-May, the 375 buses in the Forsyth County Schools System will have traveled nearly 4.7 million miles â the equivalent of 185 trips around the globe.
The logistics involved in ensuring the districtâs 25,000 daily riders get from home to school and back is always challenging. Throw in a perceived fuel shortage and panic buying last week, and pre-planning for crisis becomes even more important, said district officials.
A cyberattack on Alpharetta-based Colonial Pipeline on May 8 led to a fuel shortage across the state, primarily from a run on stations from panicked motorists.
âThankfully our buses run on diesel,â said Communications Director Jennifer Caracciolo. âWe average 3,500 gallons of fuel per day for our buses, but we have our own fueling stations.â ....

Thousands Of Masks To Be Distributed To WS/FC Schools Teachers, Staff

Thousands of masks are being delivered to educators in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools system over the next couple of days.
A group known as Community For Safe Schools spearheaded a fundraiser on social media to purchase masks for teachers and staff in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools. That led to a partnership with Wake Forest Baptist Health and the district.
The medical center is donating 30,000 KN95 masks for the initiative. The group is also providing more than 8,000. ....
