SAN ANTONIO It s two plus years since Fiesta happened in San Antonio, but the stage is being set for this summer. On Tuesday, the official schedule was released online.
Starting on June 17, nearly 50 of the 115+ Fiesta events will commence after the pandemic put everything on hold. Organizers said Fiesta will still be the great event that represents San Antonio’s culture, heritage and passion for giving back. ....

SAN ANTONIO Organizers of the Battle of Flowers and Fiesta Flambeau parades on Friday announced a collaboration to put on a Fiesta Porch Parade, giving San Antonio a glimpse of what Fiesta will look like this year when it officially arrives in June. 
“Usually in April, it’s the April showers we worry about,” said Fiesta Commission President Baltazar Serna. “This time it’s going to be the heat.” ....

Last month when it was reported the Fiesta San Antonio Commission and city and Bexar County officials were monitoring COVID-19 projections with the hope the 10-day celebration could be held in April, we suggested that, given the uncertainties of the virus, it be postponed until the fall.
Last week, the commission announced it would postpone Fiesta but only until June. While that’s a more prudent month than April, we still ask, given the unpredictability of the virus, emergence of new variants and the near certainty that not everyone will have been vaccinated in June, why not be more prudent? Why not wait until even more people are vaccinated and, we hope, the worst of COVID-19 is behind us? ....
