On Friday, August 28, 2020, California Governor Gavin Newsom unveiled a new and simpler four-tiered classification system, the Blueprint for a Safer Economy, to evaluate regional and business-sector health risk and to guide counties as they reopen businesses closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Businesses across the state have largely been closed since the Governor issued the first Stay-at-Home Order on March 19, 2020, and additional restrictions were put in place in July. Prior to August 28, the state was tracking counties’ COVID-19 metrics via a Monitoring List, with counties on the list subject to additional restrictions. That list has now been replaced with the four-tiered Blueprint. Counties in California are now subject to a streamlined set of restrictions based on the tier into which they fall, which is determined by case counts per 100,000 residents and test positivity rates. Humana to buy rest of Kindred at Home for $5.7 billion to expand patient care

By Reuters Staff

(Reuters) -U.S. health insurer Humana Inc said on Tuesday it will acquire the 60% stake that it did not own in home health and hospice provider Kindred at Home from TPG Capital for $5.7 billion to expand its patient care business.
Humana’s insurance business is focused on individuals in the U.S. government’s Medicare program for the elderly and disabled. The deal builds on its focus to use health providers in members’ homes to improve health outcomes and save costs.
The company and two private equity firms TPG Capital and Welsh and Carson, Anderson & Stowe in December 2017 bought Kindred Healthcare Inc for about $810 million. (reut.rs/3b1HLFZ) ....

Concord Acquires 145,000 Song Catalog From Downtown Music

Downtown will leave the ownership business and focus on music services exclusively
Brian Welk | April 26, 2021 @ 10:12 AM
Warner Bros.
Downtown Music Holdings has sold its publishing library of 145,000 songs, including tracks by Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Jay-Z and more, to Concord Music Group.
It’s the latest example of the sale of a large music catalog as the industry has seen a flurry of sales for record multiples. But instead of an artist directly selling their own music library to a private group, another company is now getting out of the music ownership business entirely at a point when the market could be nearing its peak. After the sale, Downtown will now focus exclusively on music services, including publishing administration and its label services division, DashGo. ....

RI senator turns to AG in fight for denied state hospital records

There are no words which truly express my disappointment, Sen. Louis DiPalma wrote the state s Health and Human Services Secretary Womazetta Jones of her agency s  refusal to provide documentation of the work that a consultant Manatt, Phelps & Phillips  did for the state during a year-and-a-half-long suspension of Medicaid billing.
Let me reiterate, this is only the first instance in my 13 years in the General Assembly where I have been denied a request for information, wrote DiPalma, D-Middletown.
I m sorry it has come to this, he said.
But anyone who knows me, knows that I will explore all legal means to ascertain the facts and data, which I believe are critical to my role in serving as Chair of the Senate Committee on Rules, [Government] Ethics and Oversight and more generally a State Senator. ....
