Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia congratulate new Foreign Minister
Foreign ministers of Laos, Cambodia and Indonesia have extended congratulations to Bui Thanh Son on his appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs.
In a phone talk with his Vietnamese counterpart on April 9, Lao Minister of Foreign Affairs Saleumxay Kommasith said he believes that Son will lead his ministry in efforts to reap more successes in foreign affairs.
Saleumxay Kommasith is the first foreign minister to make a congratulatory phone call to the Vietnamese newly-appointed minister.

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on April 9 presented a number of medical equipment to the Hue Central Hospital to support the facility to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The equipment include an extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) machine, a mobile digital X-ray machine, and a colour Doppler ultrasound machine, which have combined value of JPY50 million (over US$456,000).
Addressing the handover ceremony, Yakabe Yoshinori, Head of the Japanese Consulate Office in Da Nang city, lauded the role of the Hue Central Hospital in giving healthcare services to residents in the central region, especially during COVID-19 pandemic outbreaks.
The Japanese official expressed his hope that the equipment will help the hospital improve the quality of its medical services.

Expanded internet access required to boost digital transformation
The Vietnam Internet Association hosted Internet Day 2020 on December 16, marking the 23rd year since Vietnam became part of the global internet network.
With the theme “Digital Transformation in Vietnam: From Aspiration to Reality”, the event’s discussions centred around Cloud Computing, 5G Services, e-Payment and Mobile Money, Blockchain, Free and Open-source Software (FOSS), and “Make-in-Vietnam” digital technologies, among others.
In June, the government adopted the National Digital Transformation Roadmap 2025 and vision towards 2030, which focuses on three pillars: e-Government, e-economy, and e-society.
