Vietnamese youth submit special report to COP26 leader

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in collaboration with the Department of Climate Change (DCC) of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (MoNRE), has launched a special report entitled, “Youth for climate action in Vietnam” along with a dialogue with the COP26 president-designate Alok Sharma, as part of the UNDP Global Programme “Climate Promise”.
Approximately 200 youth representatives in Vietnam joined the event online. The event was attended by the UNDP resident representative in Vietnam, Caitlin Wiesen, and the COP26 president-designate, Alok Sharma, during his official visit to Vietnam.

Nearly five years since May 18, 2016, when the Prime Minister approved the project on Supporting the national innovation start-up ecosystem until 2025 , Vietnam s science and technology sector has indeed made a flourishing step in innovation. The words start-up and innovation have gradually become familiar and quickly formed a movement among students and young people.

Despite higher ticket prices, people flocked to the Saigon Zoo and Botanical Gardens (Thao Cam Vien) 
in Ho Chi Minh City on Friday, the first day of the ongoing three-day New Year holiday, in an effort to help the Vietnam’s oldest zoo raise ticket sales that have been hit severely by COVID-19.
Starting January 1, ticket prices at the zoo, located in District 1, have been increased from VND30,000 (US$1.3) to VND40,000 ($1.7) apiece for visitors under 1.3m tall and from VND50,000 ($2.16) to VND60,000 ($2.6) apiece for those above that height. ....

Climate change challenges have assumed deadly serious proportions in Vietnam, demanding that the country steps up contributions to meeting global temperature goals.
The existing extreme weather phenomena in Vietnam will likely become the new normal in the future, said Associate Professor Ngo Duc Thanh, Co-Director of the Space and Aeronautics Department, University of Science and Technology of Hanoi.
He was speaking at a round table discussion on Overcoming climate change challenges in Vietnam, 5 years after the Paris Agreement held Wednesday in Hanoi. The event was organized by the Embassy of France and GreenID, on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the Paris Agreement being signed on December 12. ....
