THE city’s GP surgeries have been ranked according to how easy they are to get hold of over the phone in a new patient survey.
The results of the latest GP survey - which asked more than 1,300 patients in Worcester for their views shows that some surgeries are performing better than others in the opinion of the people receiving the care.
Farrier House Surgery and St Martin’s Gate Surgery both came top according to the survey with 85 per cent of patients surveyed saying it was easy to get hold of the surgeries by phone. ....

The annual GP patient surgery, which was carried out by the NHS between January and April in what has been a Covid-dominated year, found that Severn Valley Medical Practice in Warndon had the highest number of respondents saying they had a ‘poor’ or ‘very poor’ experience.
The surgery to come out on top in the rankings when it came to booking a GP appointment was again St Martin’s Gate Surgery with 82 per cent of people saying the experience was ‘good’ or better closely followed by 80 per cent of respondents at Haresfield House Surgery answering the same. ....

HEALTH bosses have set out how people with or suspecting of having coronavirus will be seen in the city after councillors rejected a plan to build a dedicated pandemic centre.
Worcester Primary Care Network (WPCN) said it has plans to set up two temporary Covid hubs in the city to be used as and when required following a rejection to build a dedicated pandemic centre at Barbourne Medical Centre by councillors.
Worcester City Council s planning committee rejected the surgery s plan to open a Covid clinic on its car park off Droitwich Road in Worcester fearing it would add to existing parking problems last Thursday (December 17). ....

A DEDICATED coronavirus pandemic centre will not be built in the city after plans were rejected by councillors over fears it would add to parking woes.
Worcester City Council s planning committee rejected a plan by Barbourne Medical Centre in Worcester to build a purpose-built clinic on its surgery car park to treat patients with, or suspected of having, coronavirus.
Ward councillor Neil Laurenson said the plan was “completely unrealistic” and the site was “unsuitable” and he had not seen such strong objection to a planning application from residents since plans emerged to relocated Worcester City FC to Perdiswell.
He thought the building would be temporary and he said there was a “realistic chance” the pandemic would be over before the building was even built during a meeting of the council s planning committee last Thursday (December 17). ....
