2nd PN missile frigate arriving ahead of schedule

MANILA, Jan. 29 A joint Department of National Defense (DND) and Philippine Navy (PN) inspection team has approved for delivery and acceptance the future BRP Antonio Luna (FF151), the country s 2nd new-built missile frigate. The 1st frigate, BRP Jose Rizal (FF150) was delivered and commissioned in July 2020.
After the conduct of harbor/sea trials and actual ship inspection at the contractor s facility in Ulsan, South Korea on January 25 to 29, 2021, the head of the joint DND-PN inspection team and Chief, DND Defense Procurement Service, Director Leodegario Dela Paz, has found the contractor, Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), compliant with all its contractual deliverables and obligations. ....

Philippine Navy’s second Jose Rizal-class guided missile frigate BRP Antonio Luna (FF-151) will be delivered one month ahead of the contractual delivery date, the navy revealed.
FF151 is scheduled to sail out of Ulsan, Korea on 5 February 2021, and is expected to arrive in Subic, Philippines, on 10 February. The newbuild was originally slated for delivery on 6 March 2021.
“After the mandatory Coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) RT-PCR tests and quarantine of the crew, the PN will conduct the formal commissioning ceremony of FF151,” the navy said.
The announcement comes after the navy inspection team approved for delivery and acceptance the future BRP Antonio Luna at the Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) shipyard. The inspection was conducted from 25 to 29 January. ....

Commander Benjo Negranza, director of the Naval Public Affairs Office, said a joint inspection team from the Department of National Defense (DND) and PN already approved the delivery and acceptance of the frigate.
“Per agreed timeline, FF151 is scheduled to sail out of Ulsan, Korea on February 5, 2021 and is expected to arrive in Subic, Philippines on February 10, 2021,” Negranza said in a statement Friday night.
According to Negranza, the DND-PN inspection team found Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), the South Korean contractor of the frigates, “compliant with all of its contractual deliverables and obligations.”
The inspection team also declared that the second frigate was built “according to agreed technical specifications.” ....

Philippine Navy starts final inspection of new 2,600-ton frigate

As explained, Philippine Navy inspectors will validate the contractor’s strict compliance to the agreed technical specifications and build specifications (TS&BS) in building and equipping the frigate.
“Initial reports from PN owners representative headed by Capt Sergio Bartolome PN state that PN Frigate 2 is almost 100% completed and has satisfactorily passed harbor and sea trials,” the Philippine Navy said.
“However, due to travel restriction and production disruption caused by COVID-19 pandemic, some training activities and ILS deliveries have been delayed. Hence, completion dates and delivery schedules have been adjusted.”
As informed, the final FAP TIAC inspection of BRP Antonio Luna will be conducted from 25 to 30 January 2021. If the frigate is found compliant to TS&BS, PN FAP TIAC will issue the Certificate of Final Acceptance to Hyundai Heavy, as stipulated in the contract, before the team flies back to Manila on 30 Ja ....
