Company begins work on $258 million solar farm


A Spanish-based renewable energy company has begun construction on a $258 million solar farm in Fort Bend County.
Construction began Friday on the farm in far west Fort Bend County, near Rosenberg, according to a news release from Spanish conglomerate Acciona.
The company will employ as many as 450 people in Fort Bend County during construction and the farm will create 12 full-time jobs to handle operations, according to the company.
Once complete, the solar farm will have a generating capacity of 317 megawatts, and will double Acciona’s renewable energy capacity in the United States, according to the news release.
“We expect Fort Bend to be the first of many, as Acciona expects to double its installed capacity in the U.S. by 2023,” said Joaquin Castillo, CEO of the company’s energy division in the country. ....

Kentucky Public Service Commission: Madison Solar Seeks Approval From the State Siting Board


FRANKFORT, Kentucky, Dec. 22 The Kentucky Public Service Commission issued the following news release:
The Kentucky State Board on Electric Generation and Transmission Siting (Siting Board) has received an application requesting a construction certificate for a solar energy project in Madison County. A review has determined that the application is complete as filed on Dec. 11, 2020. The application, from AEUG Madison Solar, LLC (Madison Solar), proposes construction of a 100 MW photovoltaic solar array on portions of approximately 1,770 acres on a site between Richmond and Ford. The majority of the project area is currently in agricultural use. The case number for Madison Solar is 2020-00219. ....
