Eastern Europe the source of most phishing emails, says report
A new report from Barracuda Networks suggests that phishing emails most often originate in Eastern European countries
Eastern European countries have topped the charts for sourcing the highest quantity of phishing emails as an overall percentage of total emails sent from these territories.
This is according to Barracuda Networks’ most recent Threat Spotlight data which examined geolocation and network infrastructure across more than 2 billion emails, in partnership with Columbia University in January 2021.
Barracuda researchers observed that Lithuania and Latvia recorded the highest percentage of phishing attacks worldwide. This was followed by Serbia, Ukraine, and Russia in descending order. Some American and Asian countries recorded the next largest volume of phishing emails as a total percentage of all emails sent – Bahamas, Puerto Rico, Colombia, Iran, Palestine and Kazakhstan were next in t ....
