Norwood-Norfolk school's $24.8M budget increases spending but includes no increase in tax levy

NORWOOD Norwood-Norfolk Central School’s $24.8M 2021-22 budget increases spending by 1.06% but includes no increase in the tax levy for the fourth consecutive year.
NNCS Superintendent Jamie Cruikshank said his district is slated to receive over a half million dollars more in state aid and hopes to restore several positions that were cut in past budgets.
The budget this year is projected to be $24,834,943, compared to $24,574,114 last year. The tax levy last year was $6,534,756, and this year it remains the same.
“This will be the fourth year in a row we are looking for a 0% increase,” Cruikshank said adding that tax levy has remained the same since the 2018-19 school year. ....

After 28 years of fighting for a sound, basic education for every student in New York, activists like attorney Michael Rebell of the Center for Educational Equity at Teachers College, Columbia University, are celebrating a victory that has been delayed multiple times: a commitment by the state legislature to fully fund the state’s primary education formula, Foundation Aid.
