Columbia College Students Welcomed Back To School With Several Incentives

Columbia College logo
Columbia, CA — Columbia College students have plenty of new incentives to hit the classroom for the fall semester.
College administrators detail that all services will be face-to-face, many classes will be in person and there are unprecedented new offers for financial aid, scholarships and extra support in part due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“All of our services and many more of our classes will be face-to-face on campus this fall,” said Interim President G.H. Javaheripour. “That’s a huge step forward as we come through COVID restrictions.”
More than $1 million in new financial aid through COVID relief over the next year and more than $200,000 in new scholarship support through the Columbia College Foundation are being offered to students, which could mean hundreds to thousands of extra dollars each semester.

SUNY Cobleskill's Biomass Gasifier Awarded Competitive Grant

Jun 03, 2021
COBLESKILL, N.Y. – SUNY Cobleskill’s rotary gasifier is moving into a new development phase with award funding through a National Science Foundation (NSF) Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) grant totaling $255,879. The award was given jointly to SUNY Cobleskill, the Research Foundation for SUNY, and industry partner Caribou Biofuels, Inc. for the continued development and commercialization of the inclined rotary gasifier technology that turns waste streams into biofuels, biopower, and soil supplements.
This is SUNY Cobleskill’s first grant award through the NSF and comes through America’s Seed Fund, a project supporting research and development of deep technologies based on discoveries in fundamental science and engineering. Funding support will ensure that the gasifier can be deployed anywhere globally and validate that the emissions from the gasifier are entirely neutral to environmental impact.

BLM Reinforces Importance Of Recreational Shooting
BLM News:
GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Thursday issued guidance designed to protect and expand recreational shooting opportunities on BLM-managed public lands.
More than 99 percent of the 245 million surface acres managed by the agency are open to recreational shooting, and this guidance will help ensure that these activities are allowed to continue wherever possible.
“Recreational shooting is a longstanding tradition for millions of Americans, and the Department is proud to support this popular pastime as a key component of the BLM’s multiple-use mission,” said Casey Hammond, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Land and Minerals Management. “Working with local communities, our state agency partners, and other key stakeholders, we will continue to ensure that public lands remain open to recreational shooting, allowing Americans to pass down our nation’s rich outdoor heritage to future generations.”
