How Lasers are Making Dangerous Air Flight Stages Safer Image Credit: aapsky/Shutterstock.com The landing phase is the most intensive stage of an aircraft’s flight. According to Szondy (2021), up to 40% of crashes occur during this phase. This is likely due to the method of landing, in which pilots use visual cues and peripheral vision to judge their landing. These cues can be inaccurate or hard to see in situations of poor visibility. AirText, a company already versed in aircraft hardware, is using its new product, Land-DAR, to make this phase simpler and safer for small aircraft. The Standard Methods of Landing an Aircraft ....

Why is it a bad idea to filter by zeroing out FFT bins? $\begingroup$ It s very easy to filter a signal by performing an FFT on it, zeroing out some of the bins, and then performing an IFFT. For instance: t = linspace(0, 1, 256, endpoint=False) x = sin(2 pi 3 t) + cos(2 pi 100 t) X = fft(x) X[64:192] = 0 y = ifft(X) The high frequency component is completely removed by this brickwall FFT filter. But I ve heard this is not a good method to use. Why is it generally a bad idea? Are there circumstances in which it s an ok or good choice? $\begingroup$ ....
see my final pretrial Twitter thread ). I m not like those New Year s resolutioners starting to smoke again a week later. This post is not about the trial itself or the antitrust matters involved, but about suspicious social media activity of the astroturfing kind. It s publicly discoverable that Epic Games founder and CEO Tim Sweeney and I follow each other on Twitter, and sometimes retweet or like each other s tweets. Other than that, I don t know him and I m 100% independent from Epic. I have my own app store issues. In recent weeks there s been quite some suspicious activity on Twitter. I was not the only one to notice various recently-created or mostly inactive Twitter accounts (no or few followers, hardly any tweets) that chimed in on App Store antitrust discussions with typical Apple talking points. To be clear, there are legit fanbois and there may also be cases in which, for example, an open standards fanatic ignores web app shortcomings (like Richard Stallman ....
