Growing desire for independent ESG rating agency says survey
New research from fixed income ETF provider Tabula Investment Management Limited reveals growing desire for funds to have an ESG rating from an independent rating agency.
77% of survey recipients interviewed identified an ESG rating as fundamental in their investment decision making, compared to just 10% of survey participants nine months prior. Meanwhile, just 24% of investors were concerned about a fund manager s stewardship record when selecting investment funds.
100 professional investors across the UK, Sweden, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway, Italy, Germany and France were interviewed in February 2021.

The majority of institutional investors and wealth managers will focus on ESG criteria when evaluating investments in the future.
Research published by Tabula Investment Management showed that 77% of organisations will look at the ESG rating of an investment, while over 60% will focus on ESG labels such as the SFDR rating.
The EU’s Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR) came into effect on Tuesday and was welcomed by the funds industry.
But Tabula’s chief executive, John Lytle, said there was “much confusion” around the sustainability credentials of ESG-labelled funds due to the multitude of different approaches in the space. ....

European fixed income ETF provider Tabula Investment Management (Tabula) has launched a fixed income ETF is aligned to the Paris Agreement on climate change.
Tabula believes that, in 2021, ESG criteria in funds will shift from being one of many investment themes to being a key investment consideration in all investments, and changes in European legislation will institutionalise this. As a result, impact funds will take over the ESG thematic. Paris climate benchmarks will likely become a core allocation for investors with climate concerns. To date, there have not been any passive fixed income funds or ETFs offering this exposure. Tabula is the first ETF provider to tackle this opportunity. ....
