Judges this month selected 12 Atlanta Metro Export Challenge winners out of a competitive slate of applicants.
Twelve metro-
Atlanta companies have been selected for $5,000 grants that will help them find or grow export business as the world pushes toward recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. 
Aside from the reimbursable grants, the Atlanta Metro Export Challenge winners will receive a
Delta Air Lines Inc. ticket voucher and customized mentorship to help build their business globally. 
The program is in its sixth year, the fifth since it transitioned from a
Brookings Institution-led program to one that has been embraced by metro-area economic development organizations.  ....

Atlanta Export Challenge Application Deadline Approaches

A June 13 application deadline is fast approaching for the Atlanta Metro Export Challenge, a program offering local firms at least $5,000 to boost their global business outreach.  
This year, 12 winners will take home the initial funding in the first round. After they make use of the reimbursable grants, they’ll be afforded the chance to come back and pitch for more cash to increase their global sales.  
The collaborative economic development project is administered by the
Metro Atlanta Chamber with participation and funding from economic development agencies in Atlanta’s five four populous counties ....

During the pandemic, many companies were just trying to survive, let alone market their goods and services to foreign buyers.  
Yet the annual Atlanta Metro Export Challenge grant winners in 2020 proved that opportunity abounds for export sales with the right level of support, even in the most uncertain times.

Participants used $5,000 grants to internationalize and translate their websites, ensure compliance with Europe’s privacy regulations, gain ISO certifications and virtually present products to foreign clients in a word, they “pivoted” when it became evident that travel and trades shows would not be an option.   ....
