Our community has lost an amazing brother.
That s how local combat veteran Keith Totten, founder of One Team One Fight 4 PTSD, put it as he gathered his thoughts upon first hearing of the death this month of former U.S. Army Capt. Paul Guthrie of Park Place in Eustis. His time on earth was a blessing through his heart and the millions he touched along his path, Totten wrote of the Silver Star recipient and devoted Minister. Paul was a man you could not forget once words were exchanged and your eyes would widen from the positivity that sprung to life when having a conversation with him.
EUSTIS Vet Fest Lake County Committee members met last week at a Eustis City Commission meeting to present three donation checks from funds raised through the 2nd Annual Vet Fest Lake County event.
During the Thursday meeting, City Events and Tourism Manager Erin Bailey spoke to commissioners about the event, a family friendly, 3-day event to show support for active military, veterans, first-responders and their families. During this event, we had a wonderful veterans parade that ran down Eustis Street into Ferran Park, Bailey said. We had an amazing gala, and we raised quite a bit of money. Even during this pandemic, people were very generous, and we re able to, in turn, be generous as well from the Vet Fest Committee.
