The Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination this afternoon concluded its consideration of the combined twentieth to twenty-second periodic reports of Belgium on its implementation of the provisions of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination. 
Committee Experts said the absence of data on ethnic origin made the assessment of this report difficult.  Could the delegation inform the Committee about measures considered to address this matter?  Committee Experts also asked the delegation to provide information about efforts to address issues related to education on racism and Belgium’s colonial past.  ....

The Committee on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of their Families this afternoon concluded its consideration of the second periodic report of Chile on its implementation of the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of their Families. 
Committee Experts noted that the new migration law would put into effect a complete paradigm shift, and welcomed positive changes it would enact, in line with the Convention, notably article 69.  They addressed the Colchane Plan and the two related sets of expulsions that had taken place in Iquique in February, involving hundreds of individuals, including Venezuelans.  Experts stressed that the Conven ....

Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Holds Online Review of Second Periodic Report of Latvia
The Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights concluded this afternoon its three-day online review of the second periodic report of Latvia on measures taken to implement the provisions of the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. 
Andris Pelšs, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia and Head of the delegation, said the effective implementation of economic, social and cultural rights had been at the centre of domestic processes in 2020, with the Constitutional Court delivering several judgments on social security issues, the right to family life, the right to education, and the right to an adequate standard of living.  It did so while keeping in mind the provisions of the Covenant, and the General Comments published by the Committee.  He highlighted the Government’s efforts on the naturalizat ....
