Mayor Mike Duggan on Wednesday afternoon expanded access to Covid vaccinations, announcing at a news conference that any Detroiter 50 or older can schedule an appointment at TCF Center. Until now, residents in that age group needed to also have a chronic medical condition to be eligible. 
Appointments for free shots can be made at (313) 230-0505. 
Duggan said this probably is the last gradual expansion before April 5, when the state opens vaccine eligibility to anyone over 16.
Thirty thousand vaccinations have been given this week, the mayor said, touting the success of the city s program for residents and workers. In a couple weeks, we ll be doing 40,000 a week.   ....
