Madera Canyon trails get face lift with help from grants

During 2020, record numbers of visitors came to Madera Canyon to enjoy the trails, nature and a little time away from all things COVID-19.
Attendance was about 90,000 over 2019, with May, June and July seeing more than a 300 percent increase in visitors. The additional foot traffic further eroded the canyonâs most popular trails.
The non-profit Friends of Madera Canyon, in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service, this month completed the majority of phase one of a two-phase, grant-funded project to restore two of the canyonâs busiest trails, Old Baldy and the Super Trail. Phase two is set for fall. ....

Industry association welcomes communications coordinator
The Fresh Produce Association of the Americas (FPAA) announced that Andrea Ortega has joined the organization as a communications coordinator.
Ortega, a local native to the area, graduated from the University of Arizona and has a strong background in marketing, communications, event coordination, import/export knowledge and project management from her work in various organizations. These include the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Peace of Mind Events, Grupo GOCM, Tubac Golf Resort & Spa and the Tubac Chamber of Commerce where she completed one of her last roles as executive director.
Ortega is also involved with various organizations including Arizona Industry Fellows (part of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce) and the Greater Green Valley Community Foundation where she sits as an economic development advisor. ....

Andrea Ortega joins FPAA as the new communications coordinator

The Fresh Produce Association of the Americas hired Andrea Ortega as its communications coordinator.
