Opposition Grows to Proposed Health Insurance Tax in CT

Lumber Dealers Association of Connecticut
Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce
Connecticut Bus Association, Inc.

Now is the worst possible time to increase costs on hard-working residents who cannot afford to have their health coverage jeopardized as we work to recover from this pandemic, the coalition stressed.

Earlier this month, local business leaders called on Governor Lamont and the General Assembly to acknowledge the negative affects the proposed tax would have on working-class families in the midst of a public health and economic crisis. ....

Working individuals in Connecticut need their health coverage, now more than ever. They cannot afford to lose access to their doctor, local hospitals, critical services like COVID-19 testing and treatment, or the coverage they are familiar with and counting on in order to stay healthy, wrote the ....

State government health plan option threatens higher taxes, lost jobs

State government health plan option threatens higher taxes, lost jobs

Small businesses in New Britain, Berlin and Plainville – which comprise the Greater New Britain Chamber of Commerce – have been hit hard over the past year. In order to overcome this, our state’s lawmakers must focus their efforts on Connecticut’s economic and public health recovery.
William D. Moore
That’s why our chamber and our members have come out in opposition to SB 842, legislation being considered to create a new, state-run government-controlled health insurance system in Connecticut, known as the “state government option.” While there certainly is room for improvement of Connecticut’s health care system, the state government option is the wrong path forward. ....
