Grant helps workers displaced by COVID-19
The Greater Lawrence Technical School is receiving $375,000 to support access to career pathway training for local residents from underserved populations with a focus on those impacted by COVID-19.
The grants are part of the administration s Career Technical Initiative (CTI), launched at GLTS in January 2020, which aims to grow skills for students and adults for careers in high demand, high growth sectors while also meeting the needs of businesses across the Commonwealth. Greater Lawrence Tech is receiving $375,000 as part of this latest allocation of grant funding through the initiative, which will support the offering of training and placement services to unemployed and underemployed Merrimack Valley adults for careers as Biotech Lab Technicians, Carpenters, Electricians, HVAC Technicians, and Plumbers. ....

$400K grant boosts technology for Greater Lawrence Tech students

A $400,000 state grant Is providing new technology for students at Greater Lawrence Technical School.
The Skills Capital grant from the Baker-Polito Administration is helping the school buy new robotics, optics and laser equipment. The money will also update the school’s computer workstations and network design technology.
The purchases will support the school’s daytime programs, as well as its After Dark Program for Lawrence High students, school officials said.
Officials said the improvements will also support adult programming that Greater Lawrence Tech offers in partnership with Northern Essex Community College.
