Israeli, PA health and environment ministers boost medical ties in rare meeting

Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz and Environmental Protection Minister Tamar Zandberg held a rare meeting with their Palestinian Authority counterparts on Wednesday, Israeli and Palestinian officials confirmed.
Such a high-level meeting of civilian officials has not happened for several years due to poor ties between Israel and the PA.
Wednesday’s sit-down at Jerusalem’s Hotel Yehuda was initiated by Regional Cooperation Minister Issawi Frej, who has been seeking to renew long-dormant relations with the PA’s political echelon. Horowitz, Zandberg and Frej are all members of the left-wing Meretz party. ....

Palestinians Shift Blame for Their Own Vaccine Problems to Israel, With UN's Support--- Canada Free Press


The spokesperson for United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres was asked on February 24th to comment regarding Saturday Night Live’s anti-Semitic “joke.” Israel’s claim to have vaccinated half of its population meant only its “Jewish half,” the SNL cast member snarked. The spokesperson replied, “It’s not for me to get into.”
The Secretary General likes to talk abstractly about the evils of anti-Semitism. But when asked about a specific example of an anti-Semitic comment that was broadcast widely on television, his spokesperson refused to denounce it. Instead, he criticized Israel. The spokesperson said that “we have called from here for Israel to do greater cooperation with the Palestinian Authorities in line with its obligations to ensure that the vaccine gets to the population… the Palestinian population in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.” ....

Palestinians hope for vaccines by March, knock Israel for not providing doses

Palestinian health officials announced over the weekend that they had signed a deal with the AstraZeneca pharmaceutical firm and were anticipating the arrival of its first major vaccine shipment by the end of February.
“We’ve received a formal letter from the AstraZeneca pharmaceutical company that by February 15th, the vaccines will arrive in Palestine…between the middle and the end of the month,” Palestinian Authority Health Ministry spokesperson Kamal al-Shakhra told Voice of Palestine Radio on Saturday. ....

Palestinian Authority expects 4 million doses of Russian vaccine in coming weeks

Palestinian Authority senior health official Osama al-Najjar announced on Saturday that four million doses of the Russian coronavirus vaccine would be delivered in the coming weeks, as Palestinians witnessed the highest daily death toll as a result of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.
“Four million doses of the Russian coronavirus vaccine are expected to arrive soon…by the end of the year or the start of 2021, we will begin to inoculate those most at risk [for the coronavirus],” al-Najjar said in an interview with Voice of Palestine Radio on Saturday morning. ....
