Wyoming legislators push to legalize marijuana to maintain control in face of 'inevitable' changes

“Is Wyoming ready to legalize marijuana?” Olsen said, later adding: “From my perspective it is only a matter of time before one of a few things happen.”
The UW survey found that 54% of Wyoming residents support allowing adults in Wyoming to legally possess marijuana for personal use. The study also found that 85% of Wyoming residents support medical use. 75% support decriminalizing marijuana.
Olsen also pointed recent Gallup polling released in Nov. 2020 which found that 68% of Americans overall support legalization of marijuana.
With support for legalization increasing, Olsen said that “many believe that legalization by ballot initiative in Wyoming [will be] viable as early as 2022.” ....

CASPER, Wyo. The marijuana legalization debate is being felt in various corners of the Wyoming Legislature during their 2021 General Session.
House Bill 82, sponsored by six legislators, has been received for introduction in the Wyoming House of Representatives. The bill would task the Wyoming Department of Health with conducting a report that would “identify medical conditions that are, according to medical evidence, likely to benefit from treatment with medical marijuana.” ....

Over $470k forfeited following Gisborne methamphetamine investigation

Over $470,000 has been forfeited following an investigation into methamphetamine dealing in Gisborne.
Three people were convicted in Gisborne District Court between November 2019 and February 2020 for their roles in the sale and supply of methamphetamine in Gisborne, investigated by Police as part of Operation Pinyin.
This included Lucky Campbell, who was jailed for over 14 years in December 2019 after pleading guilty to seven charges of possessing methamphetamine for supply.
As part of Operation Pinyin, Police sought the forfeiture of $470,170 cash order under the Criminal Proceeds (Recovery) Act (CPRA) from the High Court in Gisborne, and a forfeiture order was granted in December 2020. ....
