On NAEP, Louisiana Students Score 9 Points Below National Average In Math, 7 Point Below In Reading
Two new reports ranking state public school systems since the COVID-19 pandemic began have both found Louisiana’s system to rank next to last.
The report notes students in the Pelican State have math scores 9 points below, and reading scores 7 points below, respectively, the national average on the National Assessment of Education Progress (NAEP) test, colloquially known as the Nation’s Report Card. Meanwhile, the state spends $11,755 per pupil annually and graduates just 80 percent of students from high school.
