WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Abercrombie & Fitch Co. (ANF) revealed earnings for fourth quarter that dropped from last year.
The company s profit totaled $82.39 million, or $1.27 per share. This compares with $83.13 million, or $1.29 per share, in last year s fourth quarter.
Excluding items, Abercrombie & Fitch Co. reported adjusted earnings of $97.33 million or $1.50 per share for the period.
Analysts had expected the company to earn $1.22 per share, according to figures compiled by Thomson Reuters. Analysts estimates typically exclude special items.
The company s revenue for the quarter fell 5.1% to $1.12 billion from $1.18 billion last year.

The wife and children of Kiwi basketballer Tom Abercrombie have been granted an exemption to stay in their $3 million home to carry out their time in managed isolation.

New Zealand Breakers and Tall Blacks basketballer Tom Abercrombie has lashed out at suggestions his family were granted special MIQ and quarantine treatment based on his status as a sports star.
Abercrombie s wife Monique-Raquel and his three children were granted an exemption to complete their 14 days mandatory quarantine in their home after travelling back from Australia.
Monique-Raquel tagged Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern on social media, complaining about the state of the hotel room they were placed in, which is believed to have been in a facility near Auckland International Airport. ....

Abercrombie sees smaller decline in holiday-quarter sales

(Reuters) - Apparel retailer Abercrombie & Fitch Co on Monday forecast holiday-quarter net sales to decline between 5% and 7%, as strong online demand was not enough to cushion the blow from temporary store closures and COVID-19 restrictions.
The company, which owns the Hollister apparel brand, had previously estimated net sales to decline between 5% and 10% for the quarter, with analysts expecting a 5.5% fall, according to IBES data from Refinitiv.
Abercrombie also said it expected fourth-quarter gross profit rate to be up at least 130 basis points, compared to last year’s 58.2%, as it discounted less.
Online demand for activewear and loungewear has soared since the start of the lockdowns, but in-store sales have taken a hit as a resurgence in COVID-19 cases in North America and major European markets forced governments to reintroduce certain restrictions. ....
