PORTLAND, Ore Landlords are suing Oregon and Multnomah County over newly refreshed bans on evictions for nonpayment of rent.
A lawsuit filed in federal court on Monday calls the bans unconstitutional. The suit names Oregon Gov. Kate Brown, Multnomah County, the city of Portland and the state of Oregon as defendants.
Oregon lawmakers on Monday re-upped the statewide ban on evictions, albeit with the requirement that tenants sign and give their landlords declarations stating they have experienced financial hardship since March 16 of this year by way of factors including job loss and increased medica ....
