Drug tunnel found
Military personnel and state police uncovered a drug tunnel Monday evening in a western Mexicali neighborhood.
According to media reports, the tunnel was found after a man reported to the emergency center that he and four other individuals were being held against their will to build the passageway.
The tunnel exits in a home near Tepic Street in the Colonia Santa Clara neighborhood, about 1.25 miles west of the port of entry.
According to the reports, the tunnel has between 67 and 80 yards long and was about 10 yards below ground.
The police arrested a man and rescued the five workers, who reportedly are from the state of Guerrero. ....

Cocapah tribe leader dies
The so-called Traditional Chief of the Cocapah tribe Inocencia González Sainz died Wednesday, relatives reported on social media.
The 84-year-old indigenous leader, one of the last speakers of the native language, died at 4 p.m.
González Sainz was a highly recognized artisan that was decorated by Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador for the promotion of the tribe’s culture.
Funeral services were announced in the Cocapah Community Museum.
The family thanked the community for their condolences.

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) -The Tijuana Country Club and its 18-hole golf course, an oasis of swaying palms and manicured lawns in the crowded Mexican border city, is set for a radical makeover as a public park under a government plan to turn it over to the people.
Baja California state Governor Jaime Bonilla of the ruling party Morena has proposed to convert the club s 120 acres (50 hectares) into a public recreational space for sports and culture, arguing that it is one of the few green areas in Tijuana that can be redeveloped for that purpose, in a city with few parks. ....
