Thick black smoke, a Betty Crocker knife and a 1969 Pontiac Firebird these were just a few elements of closing arguments Tuesday in the trial of Amani Smith, who faces multiple charges in the death of a 63-year-old Waukesha man. The charges, which include intentional homicide and arson, were filed two months after Dennis Huelse s severely burnt body was discovered in his home in the 600 block of South University Drive on Sept. 26, 2019. Authorities found him with a knife stuck in his neck, and determined he was dead before the fire damaged his house. Smith, 22, was charged two months after police said they uncovered evidence linking him to the crime namely, the missing Firebird, Huelse s prized possession. Surveillance video reportedly showed Smith driving the car down Interstate 94 shortly after Huelse s death. The Firebird was later found just a few blocks from Smith s home in Milwaukee. ....
