LAHORE: An Additional District and Sessions Court has directed CCPO Lahore to hold an inquiry against the DSP, SHO Shahkot and other officials of Shahkot City Police Station, District Nankana Sahib for illegally detaining and allegedly torturing a female PhD scholar.
The court remarked in its judgment that Shahkot Police is operating in a completely different dimension of the universe or is relying on Einstein’s theory of relativity, and think time is relative.
The court has given the said directions on a 22-A-22-B petition moved by one Bushra Tariq, a resident of Sabzazar Lahore. Bushra Tariq moved the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Hafiz Rizwan Aziz for registration of a criminal case against DSP Shahkot Circle Atif Miraj, Taswer Munir SHO Shahkot and six other officials of the same police station including In-charge Investigation. ....

Plea for case against Aurat March participants dismissed in Lahore - Pakistan

LAHORE: A sessions court has dismissed a petition seeking an order for police to register a case against social activists Marvi Sirmad, Tooba Syed and over 200 unidentified participants in Aurat March held last month in Islamabad.
A citizen namely Khalid Mehmood, the petitioner, said the Ravi Road police SHO refused to lodge a FIR on his application. He pleaded that the participants in the march committed multiple criminal offences besides displaying objectionable slogans.
In his decision, Additional District & Sessions Judge Hafiz Rizwan Aziz observed that the Aurat March was a peaceful demonstration raising the issue of gender-based oppression and violence, a social issue that deserves attention. He said there had been no reported instance of violence or public disorder exercised by the participants in the march, and in fact the protests took place in broad daylight, in the presence of ....
