When it comes to anniversaries, gold is the traditional gift for the 50th, and diamonds are for the 75th. But what do you give for a 180th anniversary? According to Wisconsin, it’s cheese!
Wisconsin has been making cheese even longer than it’s been a state, and this year marks a big milestone. To celebrate their 180th anniversary of cheesemaking, dairy farmers and artisan cheesemakers from across Wisconsin have donated their most sought-after creations. One grand prize winner will have the opportunity to custom-design their own Grand Towering Cheese Wheel Cake, to be comprised of their preferred selection of enviable Wisconsin cheeses. ....

May is American Cheese Month, a tribute to one of the world’s most popular and versatile foods. The dairy state is leading the way, with Wisconsin celebrating its 180th Anniversary of cheesemaking.
One of the top Italian chefs in the nation, Bravo’s winner of Top Chef Season 15, Chef Joe Flamm, joins our Laura Cavanaugh to share tasty tips, his favorite pairings and some especially cheesy recipes.  
“Wisconsin takes cheese very seriously. They’ve been making cheese longer than they’ve been a state,” said Flamm. “It’s one of the only places outside of Switzerland where you can actually become a Master Cheesemaker.” ....

Door County Based Cheese Factory Keeps Family A Priority

Seeing as it is American Cheese Month and we’re in America’s Dairyland, it’s only fitting that we highlight some of the great cheese factories around the state. One of those being Renard’s Cheese in Door County.
The owner of the company, Chris Renard who is also a Master Cheesemaker, took some time to share the history of Renard’s and how it became the well-known place it is today. Renard’s began back in 1961 when his grandparents bought Rosewood Dairy after his Grandpa Howard had been making cheese since he was 13-years-old. Fast-forwarding to 1966, Chris’ dad Gary bought Cloverleaf Dairy, and then eventually the two decided to join forces and create what they have today. ....
