Bethesda Gardens gets new name, new owners

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. Bethesda Gardens is now under new ownership, and it has an all new name to go with it.
American Senior Communities, the largest senior healthcare provider in Indiana, on Thursday introduced The Commons at Honey Creek. This acquisition, from Bethesda Senior Living Communities, was finalized on April 1, 2021.
“Bethesda Senior Living Communities has been honored to serve many of the senior residents of Terre Haute over the past 20 years,” Dana Rasic, Bethesda Senior Living Communities CEO, said. “Bethesda is happy to have transferred the community in Terre Haute to American Senior Communities due to their reputation as a high-quality senior living provider. American Senior Communities senior leadership has demonstrated a passion to serve seniors with compassion and excellence. We wish American Senior Communities much success at Honey Creek Commons.” ....

The University of Southern Indiana’s Geriatrics Workforce Enhancement Program (GWEP) is hosting a free, online dementia care series for direct care providers Monday, March 29 – Thursday, April 1. The live, virtual learning is the result of a collaboration with Teepa Snow and her company, Positive Approach
® to Care (PAC), to improve the lives of people living with dementia and transform the culture of dementia care.
Snow, an occupational therapist from North Carolina, developed the PAC training model to support a skills-based approach to dementia education. She shares new information in a manner that anyone connected to dementia can understand brain change and ways to offer support. ....

Caregivers, healthcare professionals and others who work with older adults can learn the benefits of music-based activities through an upcoming online workshop presented by the Great American Songbook Foundation and its Perfect Harmony program.
The two-day 2021 Perfect Harmony Virtual Workshop is scheduled 10 a.m. to noon on Thursday, March 25, and Friday, March 26. Titled An Intro to Music for Care Partners, the event offers an opportunity to learn about the benefits of music for older adults, connect with others in the elder-care community, and master simple techniques and musical exercises that can create positive, shared experiences with loved ones or community residents. ....
