NEW DELHI: The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Saturday informed that more than 1.60 crore Covid-19 vaccine doses are available with states/Union Territories (UTs), which can be administered.
As part of the nationwide vaccination drive, the Government of India has been supporting the states and UTs by providing them Covid-19 vaccines free of cost. In addition, the Government of India has also been facilitating direct procurement of vaccines by the states/UTs.
Vaccination is an integral pillar of the comprehensive strategy of the government for containment and management of the pandemic, along with Test, Track, Treat and CovidAppropriate Behaviour. ....

The government has asked social media companies to immediately remove any content from their platform that uses or refers to the term Indian variant of coronavirus, to curb misinformation around COVID-19, sources said Friday.
According to sources, the IT Ministry has written to all social media platforms asserting that the World Health Organization (WHO) has not associated the term Indian Variant with the B.1.617 variant of the coronavirus in any of its reports. ....

NEW DELHI: In yet another achievement, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Friday informed that the nationwide cumulative Covid-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 19 crores.
India has achieved a new milestone in its vaccination drive as the cumulative number of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered in the country has exceeded 19 crores (19,18,79,503) today under the Phase-3 of the nationwide vaccination drive, read an official release by the Ministry.
A total of 19,18,79,503 vaccine doses have been administered through 27,53,883 sessions, as per the provisional report till 7 am today.
These include 97,24,339 healthcare workers (HCWs) who have taken their first dose and 66,80,968 HCWs who have taken the second dose. ....
