Malawi President Lazarus Chakwera has accused Public Appointments Committee (PAC) for sabotaging his administration’s quest in the fight against corruption.
Chakwera made the remarks at Parliament in Lilongwe following what is believed to be a scheme by corrupt parliamentarians who fear that confirming the legal bulldozer, Martha Chizuma as ACB boss would land them in jail.

BENIN CITY – Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS) yesterday held a syndicate meeting with heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDA’s) where it cross fertilized ideas with participants on revenue collection.
Keynote speaker and Secretary, Edo State Government, Barr. Osarodion Ogie, represented by Barr. Deborah Enakhimion noted that the theme for this auspicious meeting, “Optimising IGR:The critical role of MDA services,” was timely and a task that must be carried out to eradicate multiple taxation which provided room for businesses to thrive through laid down rules.
Maintaining that the administration of Governor Godwin Obaseki was ever determined to provide the enabling environment for all MDA’s in the state to thrive in the discharge of their duties, Barr. Ogie stated that the interactive session, first of its kind, was meant to create, “A stable environment to deliberate on issues affecting revenue generation in the state.” ....

FCT-IRS engages 165 consultants to audit arrears of MDAs, others

FCT. photo: EDUCATIONFAIRThe Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service, (FCT-IRS) has engaged 165 consultants to audit six years’ back duty taxes of Ministries Departments and Agencies(MDAs), enterprises and corporate organisations.
The Executive Chairman of FCT-IRS, Mr Abdulahi Attah, disclosed this while speaking on some innovations the agency had put in place to improve the system of tax administration in the territory on Monday in Abuja.

Attah, who said that the consultants were employed with the approval of Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), added that the years of back duty taxes would be between 2015 and 2020.
According to him, the law requires taxable persons and organisations to file their annual returns on or before the end of March. ....
