Library's summer program starts with visit from Abilene Zoo

The Brownwood Public Library’s Summer Program kicked off Thursday with a visit from the Abilene Zoo as educators Stephanie Dubois and Madison Fischel entertained a group of approximately 100 children and adults during the 10:30 a.m. session at the Adams Street Community Center.
“I’m really pleased, this is the first time to do multiple sessions,” Daniel Shelton said on behalf of the library, which also hosted sessions at 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. “We have about 160 sign-ups and a few day cares as well, so we were expecting a pretty good turnout. We’re doing online and paper sign-ups this year, and this was the first time they’ve been online as far as I know.” ....

Library announces Summer Program schedule

Brownwood Public Library statue. [Photo contributed]The Brownwood Public Library’s Summer Program is returning as the registration period kicked off Wednesday.
On June 3, the Abilene Zoo will visit the Adams Street Community Center for sessions at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. or 12:30 p.m.
On June 24, the program will be held at the Brownwood Regional Airport with sessions at 10 or 11 a.m.
On July 8, the Magic Jay Show will take place at the Adams Street Community Center with sessions at 10 or 11:30 a.m.
And on July 22, Peaceful Valley Donkey Rescue will be on site behind the library at 10 a.m. ....

San Angelo's Railway Days Festival Is Saturday

San Angelo s Railway Museum is hosting their first ever Railway Days Festival this Saturday, May 15th from 10 am - 4 pm with lots of fun for everyone!
Come hungry and enjoy a variety of food booths. There will be plenty of booths for shopping as well.
You and your family will also be entertained with plenty of live music and events all day including: Wrather Rhodes, the Concho Cowboy Company having a shootout at High Noon, plus more entertainment with Manny Campos and Billy Dan Langley. The Railway Museum of San Angelo is on track for a big day Saturday, May 15. The first-ever Railway Days Festival will fill the surrounding area with food, fun, entertainment, history and pop-up booths from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
The museum was honored this year by the Texas Historical Commission for significant contributions to historical preservation, education and community outreach. According to Board of Directors president Suzanna Valenzuela, the Railway Days Festival continues that trend by displaying the historic train depot to the public. Saturday is also Goodfellow Appreciation Day, and all members of the military get into the museum for Living History tours for free. ....
