Officer Tyler Franks walking with assistance as rehab continues

Officer Tyler Franks is walking with assistance in rehab after being shot while responding to a domestic disturbance. His wife Amber shared a video of Franks walking on social media Saturday.The following is what Amber Franks shared to facebook Saturday. I just wanted to give everyone an update on Tyler’s progress. I have been trying to send updates out but just haven’t had much time to, so I thought I would just update on here instead. At this time, he is still in rehab. He is able to transfer from his bed to a wheelchair without assistance. He is able to stand and bear weight on his right leg as well as use a walker to take several steps at a time. His ambulation with the walker is a recent development and is still very tentative as he is still very sore and is not something that is currently done daily. He is continuing to regain strength and mobility each day. His stay at rehab is expected to extended into the beginning of June, but we are confident that he will be a ....

Death in North Carolina marks the 10th tragic transgender fatality in 2021

Franks’ body was found on February 24 in a wooden area near Ellis Boulevard and White Street.
It is reported that the Jacksonville Police Department were on the scene in the early hours of Wednesday afternoon (February 24).
Franks’ body was found murdered on a bike trail close to Ellis Boulevard and her death is being treated as a homicide.
In the police reporting and media coverage of Jenna’s death, she has been frequently misgendered.

A trans woman who was killed and left in the woods has been remembered as a “beautiful soul” by loved ones – but persistently misgendered by police and the media.
Jenna Franks, 34, was found on 24 February in a wooded area near a bike trail in Jacksonville, North Carolina as city street crews were clearing a ditch. Police are investigating the case as a homicide.
Her death marks at least the 10th known violent death of a transgender or non-binary person in the US so far this year, a continuation of the devastating epidemic of violence against the trans community. ....
