DawnNewsTV KARACHI: An accountability court has called a report from the National Accountability Bureau about an investigation into salaries and perks availed by Ayaz Khan Niazi during his three-year tenure as chairman of the National Insurance Company Limited (NICL). Accountability Court-I judge Abdul Ghani Soomro also directed the special public prosecutor, Syed Dilshad Hussain, to submit other relevant documents to the court. The judge gave these directives on an application filed by an assistant director (Investigation Wing) of NAB, who had approached the court pleading to approve closure of an investigation into the salaries and perks of the former NICL chief initiated on the orders of the Supreme Court. ....
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court on Thursday disposed of pre-arrest bail petition of retired Capt Muhammad Safdar, son-in-law of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, after the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) said it did not so far require custody of the petitioner in the inquiry of assets beyond means initiated against him. At this, the bench comprising Justice Alia Neelum and Justice Syed Shahbaz Ali Rizvi disposed of the petition. The bench directed the NAB to give the petitioner a ten-day time, as per a Supreme Court’s decision, for approaching the court if his arrest warrant was issued. The SC in 2018 ruled in Ayaz Khan Niazi’s case that the NAB, after issuance of arrest warrants, should give ten days to a person to enable him/her to approach a court for pre-arrest bail. ....
NAB reviews progress of 179 mega corruption cases Top Story March 9, 2021 ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Monday said out of 179 mega corruption cases 63 cases concluded by various accountability courts due to vigorous prosecution of the Bureau. A high level meeting, presided over by Chairman NAB Justice Javed Iqbal, held at NAB headquarters to review the latest progress on logical conclusion of 179 mega corruption cases. The meeting was informed that out of 179 mega corruption cases, 63 such cases have been concluded by various accountability courts due to vigorous prosecution of NAB, whereas 95 mega corruption cases are still under trial in different accountability courts and early hearing pleas are being filed in the respected accountability courts as per law. ....
