Qatar to present ambitious cultural programme in St. Petersburg

Qatar is set to showcase a massive cultural programme as guest country at the 24th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum - a leading global platform for business community to discuss key economic issues.
During the event, Qatar will reveal three large-scale projects representing the historical traditions and contemporary art of the country.  All the activities will be held at different venues around St. Petersburg and open to the public. 
As guest country to SPIEF 2021, Qatar will host the Qatar National Pavilion at the forum venue, which will showcase comprehensively the economic capabilities of the country.  ....

The exhibition titled Moroccan Trilogy 1950-2020 (Trilogía Marroquí 1950-2020) being hosted at Madrid’s Museo Reina Sofía (Mar. 31 – Sept. 27) is an initiative of Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Ministry of Culture and Sport of the Government of Spain and National Foundation of Museums of the Kingdom of Morocco, with the collaboration of Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art Qatar Museums and Qatar Foundation. Curated by Manuel Borja-Villel and Abdellah Karroum and coordinated by Leticia Sastre, it articulates a visual dialogue, reflecting artistic production at three historical moments, dating from Morocco’s independence to the present day. ....

Doha Institute for Graduate Studies, in collaboration with Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art, hosted on Sunday, 25 April 2021, the Visual Arts Studies Third Annual Conference 2020-2021 under the theme “The Future Museum in the Future City,” with the participation of artists, researchers, museum practitioners, and curators from around the world, to discuss -over three days- the future scenarios open to multiple possibilities, by stimulating critical thinking about what may arise in the aftermath of the pandemic.
On the first day, participants had two sessions, “Critical reading of the urban formative forces of the plagued city” and “Revising the history of the modern museum in light of the current pandemic.” In the first session, Adham Selim, Independent Researcher, presented a paper titled: Speculative and excessive: Of finance, architecture and contemporary muse ....

Conference to focus on pandemic impact on museums, cities

Doha: The implications of the pandemic to museums and cities will be at the nucleus of a three-day virtual visual arts conference organised by Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art and Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI).
The continuation of highly engaging sessions which kicked off late last year, The Visual Arts Studies Third Annual Conference 2020-2021 titled “The Future Museum in the Future City” will be streamed via Zoom from April 25 to 27.
“In this edition of the conference, we look at the implications of the current pandemic on the futures of museums and cities. We expect the conference to be an open platform for a discussion of the questions concerning the various potential scenarios that are likely to come upon us in the foreseeable future,” wrote Qatar Museums in an e-mail to its Culture Pass members.
