TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - After a pause for a few days, the Johnson and Johnson vaccine has been cleared for use again by the Centers for Disease Control.
A couple of hours later the Arizona State Health Department issued a statement by its director, Dr. Cara Christ.
“After recommending a pause out of an abundance of caution, we join our federal partners in encouraging everyone to get vaccinated against COVID-19 with the vaccine available to you,” ADHS Director Dr. Cara Christ said. “Arizonans can be confident that all COVID-19 vaccines approved for emergency use, including the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, have undergone a thorough review for safety and efficacy. The federal review will continue on all of the vaccines as more people are vaccinated.” ....

TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - The numbers of the Arizona State Health Department’s website paint a pretty grim picture when it comes to who is getting the coronavirus vaccine, and who is not.
According to the numbers, 8.1% of those vaccinated at the state-run POD’s (points of distribution) are Hispanic. In Pima County it’s better, but not much: 13.8%.
For African Americans it’s 1.1% and 1.5%.
“I am continually frustrated by this lack of thinking outside the box to reach these communities,” said District 5 Pima County Supervisor Adelita Grijalva. ....

TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - Arizona Governor Doug Ducey issued an executive order taking control of the vaccine rollout which has been very slow to get off the ground.
It’s not just Arizona, many states have been slow to start, in part because the number of doses hasn’t been what’s promised from the federal government.
Arizona was planning to distribute the doses to the counties which then, in turn, had to come up with plans for distribution. ....
