MANSEHRA: The district administration has joined hands with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Wildlife Department to preserve the endangered pheasants and other flora and fauna species.
“We are going to spare spaces for the birds at the public sector schools and other buildings to preserve ancient evolutionary processes,” Qasim Ali Khan, the deputy commissioner, told a gathering held to mark the International Wildlife Day at the Dhodial Peasantry here on Wednesday.
Students of Hazara University and people from various walks of life attended the gathering.
The official, who freed two falcons earlier to mark the day, said that trophy hunting was also being planned to attract the community’s interest where the rare and exotic flora and fauna were being eliminated by hunters. ....

Quang Nam (VNA) – Efforts are being made toward a
goal of expanding the habitat of the grey-shanked douc langur in central Quang
Nam province’s Nui Thanh district to 150ha by 2030.
The goal is set in a local project to preserve the
endangered grey-shanked douc langurs.
A study conducted in October last year by
GreenViet, a
non-profit organization, showed that natural forests on 30ha in
Nui Thanh’s
mountains are home to six families of
grey-shanked douc langurs with a total 68
individuals. This is the sole visible population in the world. ....

The Audubon Zoo has announced the arrival of a critically endangered Sumatran orangutan infant!Zoo officials said they were welcomed by the arrival Sunday morning. Although early signs and physical changes pointed to an anticipated birth window between April and May, those signs appeared later than normal and the birth happened earlier than expected, according to the zoo.In a press release, the Audubon Zoo says the mother and the infant appear to be doing well and are behind-the-scenes to give them time to bond and to allow the zoo’s veterinary and primate team to care for them. Staff are monitoring the infant’s health closely for any signs ....
