ARLINGTON, VA As the June 8 Democratic primary approaches in Arlington, the voter registration deadline is Monday, May 17.
The primary will feature races for governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general, House of Delegates and Arlington County Board. Voters in the 45th and 49th House Districts will vote in the primary, but there will be no primary for the 47th and 48th House Districts. The Republican Party of Virginia determined nominees for governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general through a convention.
The 2021 election season in Virginia has begun, with in-person primary voting underway.
They are mostly Democratic primaries this year; most of the Republican races will be decided in a series of remote conventions May 8, although there will be a few GOP races on the ballot.
Most of the changes to voting in Virginia adopted last year due to the pandemic are still in place, but there are a few differences. Here’s what you need to know.
In-person voting
Voting started April 23; the final day of voting, primary day, is June 8. Polls that day will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. If you are in line at 7 p.m., you will get to vote. If you are voting in-person before June 8, the hours vary. Check below for your county, city or town.

Teachers are among the next in line to receive coronavirus vaccines now that Virginia is trying to speed up vaccinations across the commonwealth. FOX 5’s Melanie Alnwick reports.
The locations are both operated by Curative and will be open seven days a week from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Through a partnership with a California company, Arlington County will be offering no-charge, walk-up COVID-19 testing starting Wednesday.
The county announced the partnership this morning, in a press release (below). Los Angeles-based startup Curative has placed testing kiosks in two county-owned parking lots in south Arlington; both are set to open tomorrow, operating from 12-8 p.m. seven days per week.
The locations are:
Tucker Field at Barcroft Park (4200 S. Four Mile Run Drive)
The tests are performed at no cost or co-pay to the individual, but those with health insurance will have their insurance providers billed. Results are expected within 48-72 hours.
