Cape Town - The Woodstock Residents Association (WRA) has started a petition to oppose plans to develop Victoria Walk (Goulders Green) and Queens Park Sports Field, saying it could further squeeze poor families from the area.
This as the City is advertising for public comment until June 6 the draft Spatial Development Framework (SDF) and Environmental Management Frameworks (EMFs) for the eight planning districts across the city.
WRA committee member Ute Kuhlmann said the association had constantly been engaging with the City and private developers to have affordable housing included in private developments, as well as have consultations with the community about affordable housing on public land in Woodstock, but with little success. ....

The second suspect in one of Baltimore s high profile murders this year has been arrested after a months-long manhunt. An MTA Mobility bus driver was gunned down in northeast Baltimore in January.
Police arrested 33-year-old Marquis Poteat, the suspected gunman, last Friday, April 2nd, hundreds of miles from the city.
Poteat is behind bars at the Florence County Detention Center in Effingham, South Carolina, more than 400 miles away from Baltimore.
When he s extradited back to the city he ll face murder charges in the shooting death of MTA Mobility bus driver Frankye Duckett. ....

Florence County Sheriff s Office records show Marquis Poteat is in their custody.
Baltimore police said in a statement Tuesday afternoon that Poteat was apprehended by U.S. Marshals and Florence County sheriff s deputies. Poteat awaits extradition back to Baltimore later this month.
In January, police said Poteat and another man, Ernest Ford, shot and killed Frankye Duckett on Jan. 29 on Moravia Road in northeast Baltimore while Duckett was on his route. Ford was arrested in January.
Baltimore police said Poteat will be charged upon his return with first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault and firearms violations. ....

The man wanted in the January killing of a Maryland Transit Administration mobility driver has been arrested in South Carolina, police said Tuesday.
Marquis Poteat was arrested in Florence, South Carolina, with the help of U.S. marshals and Florence County sheriff s deputies.
Poteat, 33, is awaiting extradition. When he is returned to Baltimore, Poteat will be charged with first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault and firearms violations.
Frankye Duckett was seated in his vehicle when he was shot. It came three months after bus driver Marcus Parks was shot while on duty. ....
