Five teenagers were shot at a teen birthday party last week, now the community is looking at ways to heal.
Community activist, Chanae Jackson said her nieces are honor roll students who just wanted to go out and have fun, and they never expected for the night to turn violent. “They were going to a teen party where they thought they’d be safe, including the people who threw the party. I always tell people be very mindful of what you say and make assumptions, she said. We can’t keep our kids safe by keeping them in the house in order to protect them we have to fix our community.” ....

Paul Rinehart murder-suicide case shows trouble identifying suffering

But as is often the case with mental illness, life isn’t what it seems.
Reinhart on Tuesday is believed to have killed his two sons and himself. Their bodies were found in the burned Dixie County river house.
Sheriff’s deputies began searching for Reinhart after a family member became concerned over social media posts and texts he was making, but the challenge of mental health is that people who are in turmoil often do not let others in on it, said Joe Munson, director of clinical services at UF Health.
“People will ask, ‘How are you doing?’ and the person will say ‘Fine,’ ” Munson said. “Fine’ is one of the scariest responses I get from people. Not everyone has the skills to talk to people about emotional or personal things. One of my experiences is that people don’t even know what to say to others they notice who are struggling.” ....
