Repeated attacks by vandals have caused thousands of pounds’ worth of damage to a soon-to-be-refurbished Aberdeen swimming pool.
Northfield pool, which is currently closed but is due to undergo significant upgrades, has been targeted seven times in the last nine days.
Fencing has been damaged, while there is also evidence of people attempting to get into the swimming pool by damaging panels on the roof. ....

Success seems likely in the fight against field horsetail weed, prompting a Rangitīkei group which has been focusing on the pest to hold a celebratory workshop at Ferry View farm.
The Northern Hemisphere weed spread to the coastal Rangitīkei farm with 2004 flood waters and became firmly established, Horizons environmental co-ordinator Craig Davey said. ....

Sport chiefs have expressed their disappointment after vandals targeted a popular gym.
Sport Aberdeen’s Get Active @ Jesmond site in Bridge of Don was vandalised on Saturday night, when the glass door to the front entrance of the building was smashed.
The gym, which also has sports halls, is currently closed under coronavirus restrictions.
Sport Aberdeen managing director Alistair Robertson said:  “This senseless vandalism, which we have sadly seen at other venues already this year, is extremely disheartening not only for the charity but also for the whole community. ....

Aberdeen is currently under Covid-19 restrictions - but the route out of lockdown has been revealed.
The north-east’s route out of lockdown has been welcomed – but calls have been made to speed up the lifting of Covid-19 restrictions due to low case numbers.
Business and hospitality leaders, sports organisations and hairdressers have spoke of their joy after the exit plan was unveiled, but the need for clarity on travel regulations to help support recovery was underlined.
