SAMUT PRAKAN: More than 1,250 people have filed damage complaints arising from the explosion and fire at the Ming Dih Chemical Company factory in Bang Phli district on July 5.
Bang Kaew police station has set up a special investigation team to look into them.
Station chief, Pol Col Mongkol Onkaew, said on Tuesday that 1,266 people filed complaints between July 5-11, and more were expected.
The damage caused to homes and other property near the factory was initially estimated at 423 million baht, and included 138 cars and 12 motorcycles, he said. ....

Thailand will later this year host the 28th meeting of the council of the Mekong River Commission to discuss ways to mitigate the impact of dams on member countries, Somkiat Prajamwong, secretary-general of the Office of the National Water Resources (ONWR) said.
This meeting is expected to be held by the last quarter of this year and will be followed by the 4th summit of countries in the Lower Mekong Basin, expected to be held in April next year, he said.
Several measures proposed for curbing the negative impact of Mekong dams on the people living downstream the river, including seven northeastern provinces in Thailand, were discussed at a meeting of the Thai National Mekong Committee, which was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon, said Mr Somkiat. ....

The Office of the National Water Resources (ONWR) has been told to take advantage of the early arrival of the rainy season to stock up on water supply for next year s summer.
ONWR has been instructed by Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon to look for ways to save as much water throughout the rainy season, which has hit the country early this year. The water conserved will replenish reserves in many dams and reservoirs, which has experienced a substantial drop in water storage.  
Many parts of the country have been drenched by storms this month, which technically marks the peak of the summer.  ....
