New Princeton-Techstars bootcamp boosts entrepreneurship for graduate students and postdocs

Princeton graduate student Jeff Phaneuf took this photo of his friend during an Adventurelist exploration in Sedona, Arizona. Adventurelist is a two-sided marketplace for guided adventure sports, and the startup recently won a pitch competition during the first Princeton Startup Bootcamp held virtually this January. Teams of graduate students and postdoctoral researchers forged and strengthened entrepreneurial ventures during the bootcamp as part of a new Princeton Innovation program.

From lab to everyday life: Princeton accelerator fund supports promising innovations

Seven technologies that address some of society’s biggest challenges  from foolproof antibiotics to low-cost water purification  will receive support for research and development through Princeton’s Intellectual Property Accelerator Fund. 
A technology for illuminating targets for new drugs against cancer and viruses is one of several selected to receive support from the Intellectual Property Accelerator Fund to help develop Princeton discoveries to the stage where they can have broader societal impact.

The program gives discoveries an extra push through the development pipeline to bring technologies to the stage where they are ready for further investment, from either a startup or a larger company.  ....

As I have extensively discussed in the previous editions, private universities are the flagship of the Nigerian education sector as the premier private universities have consistently outperformed the public universities in terms of quality education, technological advancements, infrastructures, etc. To put this contention in proper perspective, last week, I highlighted some of the accolades attributed to the Afe Babalola University which has been remarked as the ‘model, benchmark and reference point’ for university education in Nigeria.
