WORCESTER – Holy Cross on Monday opened its new recreation and wellness center, a 52,000-square-foot facility that cost $32.5 million to build.
The Joanne Chouinard-Luth Recreation and Wellness Center is named for Joanne Chouinard-Luth, who along with her husband, 1974 alum John Luth, gave a record $40 million gift to Holy Cross six years ago that helped fund the project.
“The Jo,” which is replacing the campus’s 72-year-old field house, will house the college’s club and intramural sports, as well as its recreation, fitness and wellness programs, and has features like a golf simulator and suspended running track. In addition it will be the new home of the college’s Office of Student Wellness Education, Worksite Wellness Office, and Office of Public Safety. ....
