WORCESTER – Holy Cross on Monday opened its new recreation and wellness center, a 52,000-square-foot facility that cost $32.5 million to build.
The Joanne Chouinard-Luth Recreation and Wellness Center is named for Joanne Chouinard-Luth, who along with her husband, 1974 alum John Luth, gave a record $40 million gift to Holy Cross six years ago that helped fund the project.
“The Jo,” which is replacing the campus’s 72-year-old field house, will house the college’s club and intramural sports, as well as its recreation, fitness and wellness programs, and has features like a golf simulator and suspended running track. In addition it will be the new home of the college’s Office of Student Wellness Education, Worksite Wellness Office, and Office of Public Safety.
You are here
Campus Recreation
At Holy Cross, you’re constantly exercising your mind. But from skiing to Ultimate Frisbee, we also offer outstanding opportunities to exercise your body.
Connecting Health and Happiness
Physical fitness and emotional well-being often go hand in hand. Sleep and healthy eating can help sharpen your mind before a big exam, while working out can help burn off some of that excess stress (and maybe even a pound or two). We encourage all our students to maintain active, healthy lifestyles that support their success.
Fitness For Everyone
Many student organizations are part of the Office of Campus Recreation. Recreation is an important part of each person’s individual wellness and at Holy Cross we strive to offer opportunities for you to get involved in a wide array of activities outside of Division I athletics.
