But there haven’t been any takers to build anything there – yet.
The lot at Fifth Avenue and Broadway once housed four historic buildings but that all came to a crashing end on February 25, 2020, when an early morning fire reduced them to rubble. ....

Business Relief Grants approved for 82 Douglas County businesses

Grants ranged from $2,000 to $25,000.

More than 80 area businesses will be receiving funds totaling more than $1 million by way of a state Business Relief Grant.
Douglas County commissioner approved the grants for 82 local businesses at the Tuesday, Feb. 16, regular board meeting. Grants ranged from $2,000 to $25,000 with businesses having to meet certain criteria, which included having had a loss in the fourth quarter of business or was a new business in 2020.
Shari Prause, co-general manager and director of sales for Arrowwood Resort and Conference Center said, We’re very grateful for any support given as we struggle through this time like everyone else. We’re looking forward to a strong summer with happy customers and associates. ....

Douglas County commissioners approve Business Relief Grant to help local businesses

More funds are now available to help some Douglas County businesses recoup costs after the latest executive order from the governor’s shutdown and restrictions as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
Douglas County commissioners approved a state Business Relief Grant in the amount of $754,292 that will be disbursed to area businesses in the form of an economic development relief grant.
The county was eligible to keep a portion of the funds – $18,397 worth – to cover administrative costs, but will put the whole amount toward grants for businesses instead. In addition, the commissioners approved allocating up to $677,746 more if needed. ....
