Dubai: A 65-year-old Qatari citizen who was infected with COVID-19 has been finally discharged from the Hazm Mebaireek General Hospital after 144 days of being admitted to the hospital for treatment, local media reported. The patient had been suffering from severe complications due to his COVID-19 infection for which he has stayed in hospital as an inpatient since September 2020, Hamad Medical Corporation said in a report on its website. The patient, who had been complaining of pulmonary arterial blood pressure, was admitted to Hazm Mebaireek General Hospital after being diagnosed with acute pneumonia due to COVID-19. His condition deteriorated until it reached lung fibrosis, acute respiratory failure and complete liver function disorders. ....

Qatar Museums, the government authority responsible for most state museums and public works in the country, announced on social media that “a new incident of vandalism” to the East West/West East (2014) sculpture on 28 December. The work, which was commissioned by the Qatari royal family, is made up of four 14m-high steel plates spread over 1km in the remote location of the Brouq nature reserve. “The vandals were apprehended by authorities and were referred to public prosecution for the necessary legal action to be taken against them,” the announcement states. ....
