KARACHI: Leaders of key Shia groups on Sunday conveyed to the federal and Sindh governments that they would bring out processions in Muharram to pay homage to Imam Hussain (RA) and other martyrs of Karbala. The participants in the Al-Quds rallies on Friday reiterated their full support for the oppressed Palestinians who were striving for the liberation of their motherland from usurper Zionists.
Addressing an Al-Quds rally outside Noor-e-Iman Masjid in Nazimabad, Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen (MWM) leaders, including Allama Baqir Zaidi, Allama Mirza Yousuf Hussain and Allam Sadiq Jaffery, said Israel, with the full backing of the United States (US), had been massacring the oppressed Palestinians.

KARACHI: The Joint Action Committee for Shia Missing Persons on Friday ended a sit-in against ‘enforced disappearances’ near mausoleum of Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah after 28 days following “successful talks” with representatives of the government and state institutions as “some persons” were released while “assurances” were given for the release of more persons, according to the organizers of the protest.
Speaking at a press conference, religious scholars and relatives of the missing persons said that they held talks with the government and state institutions’ representatives during which deadlock also occurred but at the end “some missing persons were released.” ....

Sit-in for Shia missing persons called off after talks with govt

Families of ‘missing Shia persons’ on Friday called off their sit-in, saying that they took the decision in view of the rising Covid-19 cases as well as after holding successful talks with the government and security agencies.
The announcement of calling off the sit-in was made by leaders of the Joint Action Committee for Shia Missing Persons during a press conference at the sit-in camp outside the Mazar-e-Quaid.
The action committee had started the sit-in on April 2. Speakers, including Allama Syed Ahmed Iqbal Rizvi, Allama Baqir Zaidi, the father of missing person Ali Haider, and the wife of missing person Abrar Hassan, said at the press conference that they had been holding a peaceful and organised protest sit-in for the past 28 days without disturbing anything and their protest even did not impede vehicular traffic. ....
